Born in Boston, Kate Waterhouse has been working with fine jewelry for almost a decade. Starting her career with retail jeweler Finlay Fine Jewelry, Waterhouse went on to graduate with a BA from Elizabethtown College in museum studies and the studio arts with a concentration in sculpture. She also attended the Sotheby's Institute of Art, London, where she worked toward her master's in art business with a concentration in auction house management and operation. While in the Sotheby's program, she worked at Bonham's Auctioneers in London, before moving back to the States in 2006 to work as a fine-jewelry specialist at Freeman's Auctioneers, later being promoted to head of department and vice president.
She became a featured jewelry appraiser on PBS's ANTIQUES ROADSHOW in spring of 2010, the same year she became a member of the American Society of Jewelry Historians. In fall 2012 Waterhouse joined Heritage as director of the Fine Jewelry department, New York, where she currently contributes to four major fine-jewelry auctions annually.
