Meredith Hilferty is the Director of Fine Art Auctions at the Rago Arts and Auction Center.
A former Assistant Director with Jeffrey Fuller Fine Art, Ltd. in Philadelphia, she joined Rago’s with a decade of experience in the evaluation of American and European art from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries as well as experience with appraisals, client services and sales, exhibition management, and marketing.
Ms. Hilferty’s skills first came to the attention of the partners at Rago’s in April 2004 during the sale of the Brutten Herrick Collection, held in partnership with Jeffrey Fuller Fine Art, Ltd. Her instrumental role in the success of that sale made it evident that any auction house would be fortunate to have her services.
Since joining Rago’s in early 2006, she has developed a department that sets records for diverse and significant art at many price points and all forms of visual expression: painting and sculpture, drawings, prints and illustrated books, installations, photography and video. She emphasizes work of the 20th Century and has broken new ground in developing a secondary market for emerging and mid-career artists. It’s a point-of-view that has attracted much exceptional and interesting art including single-owner collections from Kenneth L. Freed, Joshua P. Smith, Eileen and Marvin Reingold, and Ben and Bernarda Shahn. Ms. Hilferty oversees four regularly scheduled fine art sales each year: Post-War & Contemporary Art and 19th & 20th C. American and European Art in May and November.
A graduate of Tyler School of Art, Temple University, she lives in Philadelphia.
